Basic Flight Rules at Torrey Pines Gliderport

  1. All pilots must be USHPA members and/or have in their possession a temporary 30 day USHPA membership card (Inquire inside the shop).
  2. All pilots must sign in prior to flying and fill out waivers prior to launch.
  3. Preflight glider and harness. Helmet, whistle, and reserve parachute required.
  4. Immediately prior to launch, announce intended direction of launch to RC pilots, then sound your whistle loud and clear.
  5. Only ONE GLIDER IN THE WINDOW AT A TIME.
  6. Sound whistle loud and clear when entering the window.
  7. No turning or loitering in the window -- it is designed for RC model use only.
  8. Northbound glider has right of way.
  9. Yield to the right.
  10. Announce intended landings and sound whistle loud and clear prior to final approach.
  11. Launch and land in designated areas only.
  12. Gliders must be parked well clear of landing area.
  13. When kiting your paraglider, please drop the glider to the ground when other gliders are on final approach.
  14. Only safe landings will be tolerated. No low altitude approaches, no flying through the landing area.
  15. No low altitude flying over spectators or car.
  16. No flying over the RC model set up area.
  17. Turns should be away from the cliffs.
  18. Lower glider has the right of way.
  19. Whistle must be carried by pilots at all time.
  20. No alcohol or intoxicating substances prior to flying.
  21. All tandem instructional flights must be cleared by the Flight Director.
