Basic Flight Rules at Torrey Pines Gliderport
- All pilots must be USHPA members and/or have in their possession a temporary 30 day USHPA membership card (Inquire inside the shop).
- All pilots must sign in prior to flying and fill out waivers prior to launch.
- Preflight glider and harness. Helmet, whistle, and reserve parachute required.
- Immediately prior to launch, announce intended direction of launch to RC pilots, then sound your whistle loud and clear.
- Only ONE GLIDER IN THE WINDOW AT A TIME.
- Sound whistle loud and clear when entering the window.
- No turning or loitering in the window -- it is designed for RC model use only.
- Northbound glider has right of way.
- Yield to the right.
- Announce intended landings and sound whistle loud and clear prior to final approach.
- Launch and land in designated areas only.
- Gliders must be parked well clear of landing area.
- When kiting your paraglider, please drop the glider to the ground when other gliders are on final approach.
- Only safe landings will be tolerated. No low altitude approaches, no flying through the landing area.
- No low altitude flying over spectators or car.
- No flying over the RC model set up area.
- Turns should be away from the cliffs.
- Lower glider has the right of way.
- Whistle must be carried by pilots at all time.
- No alcohol or intoxicating substances prior to flying.
- All tandem instructional flights must be cleared by the Flight Director.
